Fable Lately

She brings a book, turns herself around and plops down in my lap. I read the first two words before she turns the page. "Brown bear... Red bird... Yellow duck..."

She reaches out her hands to hold our fingers as we pray before dinner. She looks at her daddy, then her mama, as we thank God for her and pray for patience and wisdom.

She leans in to give a kiss, "MMMMMMM-AH" as she presses her lips to mine.

She cruises along the couch, the walls, the bed, and then suddenly she's off, walking on her own. She makes it across the room before she falls. My big girl.

Dear Fable

How can it be that you are already one? Wasn't it just yesterday that I was holding my brand new baby in my arms? But tonight, when I was giving you a bath, you stood in the tub completely unassisted for 5 long seconds, and I know you'll be walking before long. It's truly amazing how much you've grown and changed in one short year. I love that you can communicate with us by pointing when you want something. And you say a few simple words, though you're constantly babbling and I think you'll be quite a talker, like your daddy. He and I took the day off work today to celebrate you. I made waffles for breakfast and then we went to the pool. You LOVE the pool. You love the water, but mostly you love watching the older kids run around and play with their water toys. You want so badly to join them. Soon, little girl. Soon, you will. Much too soon.

Love you to the moon and back,
Mama
